Obsolescence/Counterfeit
Robust product and component traceability is not only a priority but an internal imperative. PUI has a tenacious documented Counterfeit Avoidance Program. PUI default position is to buy from the OEM or Authorized Distributors. If a broker must be used, a series of steps are required to be completed. The first step is to obtain approval from the Customer. If the Customer approves, the parts may be ordered from one of the brokers on the approved supplier list. Any parts that are procured must go through testing including but not limited to: Visual Inspection; Blacktop Testing; Group A Functionality. Only after these conditions have been met, are the parts permitted to be shipped to PUI for production purposes. With ever increasing reported incidents of counterfeit electronic components, there is no room for complacency – PUI has the processes in place to protect against such incidents.
New Product Introductions (NPI)
Projects Unlimited NPI is a cross-functional process to meet or exceed customer defined expectations. A successful NPI demands that integration of the product design and the development processes are aligned with the customer’s needs, timeline, and product strategy.
An individual program manager is assigned to support our customer’s New Product Introduction (NPI) and assists in the navigation of the customer’s product through every stage and process. The success of New Product Introduction is attributed to the backbone Projects Unlimited’s thorough NPI process:
- Accurate prototype analysis and build
- Monitoring of all Engineering Change Orders (ECO)
- Detailed Bill of Material (BOM) analysis
- Experienced management of supply base
- Team planning analysis
- Leveraging of tiered suppliers
- Component engineering support
- Design analysis and build summary reports
- Quality data management system
- Strict quality, test, and inspection procedures
- Shipping, packaging, and fulfillment management
